Round 2

Aidan had his second round of chemo on Wednesday, it went really well. Then Yesterday was his spinal tap. All I can say is that it sucked! They gave Aidan a numbing shot but it was still no fun. All in all, he has been doing well. He needs to take breaks sometimes when he gets dizzy or tired. He seems to be eating and sleeping alright.  Aidan also had his first small bloody nose Friday morning, with leukemia, this is a sign that his platelets are low. Low platelets will also cause him to bruise easier and if he gets cut he will bleed more. Low platelets mean his blood will not clot like it should. In a normal child the platelet count is 150,000;  Aidan’s is 40,000.

Thursday is his next round of chemo. There will be no shoots thank goodness.

  1. Laura Purdy says:

    Hi,
I was diagnosed with AML in November. I’m a 49 year old mother of two and it’s scary for me, I can only imagine what you all are going through.

I received one of Aidan’s monsters the other day from one of my co-workers and was so touched by the thoughtfulness of the gift. I am going into the hospital in a couple of days for a stem cell transplant and plan to take my monster with me.

Thanks so much for taking something so awful and turning it into strength for others. All the best to you. 🙂
