We got the verdict today on why Aidan was getting sick. He has a Staph infection around his Hickman line which means they will have to remove it. The Hickman is a chatheter that runs up through his chest, down a vein in his neck near to his heart. It is where they give him chemo. In four weeks he will go back and have the Hickman placed back in and we can start all over.
It means Aidan will not be receiving chemo for four weeks.
He had a hard time getting the Hickman in the first time around. I am sure the little guy is pretty scared at this point. So are we.
I am so sad to hear about this but will try not to despair too much–I know that there is a good reason that this is happening, whatever it may be! I will keep praying for healing for Aidan and for strength for him and his family.
Just stay positive. He’ll get through it. Kids are very strong.
Hi, I found your blog through Regretsy and Aidan’s story has touched my heart. I will be praying for all of you!
I saw found your story through a passing on facebook. It brought me to tears; I’m so sorry he has to go through this. He will be in my prayers.
It’s terrible when this happens, unfortunately very common. My brother had the same thing happen. With the second catheter the nurses started doing Ethanol Locks to decrease the chance of staph infections, and it worked.
Hope everything goes well!
Ok! Wait… Do I have the wrong blog? Is this Stephanie? I know a blog called A is for Aiden but then realized this was a wordpress blog! I don’t think the one I know is wordpress. Regardless, my prayers will be with your sweet Aidan!
